The 8080 rated as an 8/9 weight reel, but I happily use it a 10 well. With a fish on the drag is bumped up necessary three or fours without looking. Rio WF8F Fly Line and backing. That way you're always working off a firm base point that you can keep referring back.

What you do is remember the chosen setting numbers for line stripping then figure out how many strips more want fighting a fish. I really took to the starfish shaped drag knob straight away.

The new drag adjustment on this reel has been the most widely publicized feature. Once the fish is landed you return it to your pre-determined line stripping tension.
